What units have design systems?  Are they integrated into design practices only, or also integrated into development workflows? What tools are being used (Figma, Storybook, Emulsify, others)? What lessons were learned and what useful tips can be shared?

Join this session to learn more about the ADAPT project to modernize the Alumni Directory, specifically about how we engaged with stakeholders across the university to agree upon one centralized Alumni Directory. 

Prior to the ADAPT project, the Alumni Directory was on PostGrads/PGNet where some schools had different instances of the Directory with outdated search capabilities. Our project team was able to engage with these stakeholders to move to one centralized Alumni Directory that uses a modern search engine, Coveo, that is now live as of March 2023.

PDF documents are a common file format found on nearly all websites, yet create multiple accessibility barriers for people with disabilities. While PDFs themselves can be made accessible, the simplicity by which PDFs are generated and a lack of accessible authoring practices result in multiple digital barriers.

For a normal manual visual regression process, we would usually tend to use the default way of fetching URLs, by crawling the site and letting this be our URLs monitor list. Using the default URL crawls is definitely convenient but it can also be a double edge sword. URL crawls sometimes can lead us to have 30~40 URLs to monitor per site, this might be viable if you are only monitoring 1 site but what if you have to do visual regression tests on multiple sites?

A significant focus for University Communications is to build institutional capacity to deliver personalized, persuasive messages to the audiences that need to receive them. To further that effort, UComm is in the process of building a news content aggregation and federation platform dubbed Unity.

The current editing experience uses React, and Stanford Web Services is changing the platform to use Layout Paragraphs. We'll discuss the reasoning behind the changes and demo what it will look like.

In this session, we will delve into the practical applications of TailwindCSS, a popular utility-first CSS framework. Using real-life examples, we will demonstrate how TailwindCSS can be used to streamline your workflow and turn your designs into code. We will share tips and tricks that we have learned along the way to help you get the most out of TailwindCSS. Additionally, we will provide updates on the latest version of our design system Decanter, which is built on top of TailwindCSS.

It is critical to have a solid process for considering accessibility at every stage of the strategy, design, and development of a web project. Like many schools, Stanford University has a decentralized environment with many communications and web teams working together (or in teams of one!) to create and support beautiful, usable, secure, and effective websites and applications.

In this session we will be cover the following aspects. 

1) Introduction of Next Js on a wider scale.
   - Here we will talk about how Next Js is growing to be a focal point among the developers and how we can leverage Next Js with our applications.

2) Ways of integrating Next Js with Drupal.
  - While learning about Next Js we should surely know various options available to marry our Drupal CMS with Next Js to showcase our data.
